March Meeting

I dont’ have the minutes so i’m going off of pure memory (which is not saying much).

The meeting was a double edged sword, relaxing and tense all at the same time! We did not have an official speaker so that left room for some great time of fellowship and prayer as well as some very important league discussions.

I proposed that we add some kind of amendment that would simplify the structure of the league when our member numbers are so low. most agreed this was necessary. i am still researching to make sure i go about going it the right way. it was announced that we would vote on the amendment at the next meeting. we ought to have had a nominating committee in place but with the need for restructuring, in terms of officers and committee chairs, we are postponing the nomination until the above issue is resolved. It was clearly stated by all that whatever changes occur, we do not want to loose the heart of the league which is support of one another and service to the community.

Stacy will contact us with a sign up list for this months service: potluck dinner at the House of Hope. We would like to have a diaper drive in April. I will send out sign ups for April 24th, Kidfest.

well. the rain held us up a bit, and we were missing quite a few folks due to illness, but overall it was a good meeting!

Jennifer Parker from the University of Phoenix shared with us her personal story of continued education as a mother of two.

Cindy Wilkerson then encouraged us as moms to think twice and accept responsibility when we make not so great financial decisions.

We will be participating in the 2010 Kidfest, organized by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The date is set for April 24th, during Child Abuse Prevention Month and will be held at the Longview Mall. We will provide information about the Longview Mothers League and hand-painting will be available for the children.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day this year by Loving a Child in need! We will be sending collected items and funds to Love a Child in Haiti. There is still time to donate diapers, formula, medical supplies or funds through the Longview Mothers League (make checks payable to: Love a Child). Call 903-295-0600 to drop off items by Thursday, Feb 11th (to be mailed Friday, February 12th).

February Meeting!

It feels like we haven’t met in forever! Our meeting is only one week away though, so make sure to mark your calendars and don’t miss out!!!

It’s time again for Finance and Fondue!

Bring along your favorite dip & dippers to share, then learn some helpful tips for your finances in 2010!

We will start promptly at 9:30am!! Childcare is available starting at 9am to allow for plenty of time for dropping kiddos off and stealing a few quiet moments before we begin.

Remember to bring your donations for Haiti as well. (flipflops, clothing, toiletires, non-perishable food, diapers, formula, first aid supplies, etc…)

Make a new friend and bring them along and we’ll see you soon!

Mom’s Night Out

I’m still not used to using wordpress, yeah pretty much it drives me

nuts, so if the pictures are crazy i truly am sorry, but i don’t want to mess with it anymore.

tonight was a very enjoyable mom’s night out! new restaurant adventure for all of us. the pictures you see are of the MILE high lasagna, veal parmesan, and my personal choice, turtle cheesecake!

we missed those who couldn’t make it, but as always the conversation covered a wide spectrum of topics, from finances to homeopathy to children (of course).

Winter Summary & January Calendar

Well the holidays are behind us, and we can now focus on bigger and better things for 2010!

In October we participated in the Christmas Corner to raise money for Living Alternatives selling handmade ornaments.

While our efforts were not as successful as we would have hoped we did gain the experience and understanding of what to prepare for should we choose to try again next year.

November’s Business Fair was fun and our December meeting was a very relaxing and enjoyable time of fellowship and crafting! Here’s a Link to what we made in case you’d like to make more!

We have our first meeting of the spring semester coming up in just a couple weeks, so make sure to mark your calendars for Thursday, Feb. 4th!
