Business Meeting Recap

We opened the meeting with snacks and a time of prayer.

The because of the significantly smaller size of our current membership, the following questions were asked and discussed:

Why is the Mothers League a vital part of our community?”

“What do we provide that other mom groups may not?

“How did you first hear about the LML?”

What are the most necessary jobs/position that need to be covered?

We also discussed other venues for advertising our group and its events.

We then discussed the details of the upcoming membership brunch. a detailed email was sent through the yahoo group for current members once the date/location was confirmed.

A Big Thank You!

A big thank you to all who showered me with diapers etc at the May meeting.  An entire shelf in our laundry room is now devoted to diapers all awaiting the arrival of Baby Strat.

I have been doubly blessed by my Mother’s League friends in that I signed up for the May Serve Each Other project and recieved a super yummy meal last Wednesday on a night I had to teach and never have my act together to cook too!

When the newest Strat arrives we’ll let you know through the email list.

You are such a kind and devoted group – I’m grateful for all of you!  It was fun serving you this year as VP.

May Calendar

Saturday, May 9th, 6:00-9:00, Couple’s night: Exhibit opening at LMFA. The Longview Museum of Fine Arts is featuring the paintings of Robert Jessup of Dallas. His paintings are colorful and pleasing and tell stories. At the opening, there will be a discussion of the paintings (and I hope a description of the stories behind the pictures!). This is a good, free opportunity to get our of the house with the hubby! For more info, go to www.lmfa.org or www.robertjessup.com.

Tuesday, the 12th, 3:00. Park Day at Rotary Park. This is one of our fav’s, tucked in between Cotton Patch and Bramlette Elementary. It has a big playground and is on a trail. So, bring bikes and strollers and plan to take a hike on the trail! We will play on the playground, then walk, and return to the playground.

Saturday, the 16th, Trip: Tyler Obedience Training Club’s Dog Agility Tournament in Tyler  You’ve seen the dog competitions on Animal Planet where the dogs go up the seesaws and back and forth between the stakes and lots of other stuff. Those dogs have to win at several local competitions before they can compete at the national level. Now there is a local competition in Tyler! We went to the first one in Feb, and it was a blast! There are dogs running the courses throughout the day. The serious competitors started around 12:30, but because of our nap schedule we will most likely go in the morning, have a picnic lunch, and leave shortly after lunch. There is a nice field for picnicking and concessions. The event is free! For more information, go to http://www.tylerotc.org/Agility.html. If you want to caravan with us or meet us there or need help with directions, let me know. RSVP to Jenny (jenny.johns.08 AT gmail.com).

Thursday, the 21st, 8:00-9:30ish, Annual Concert in the Park. Every Memorial Day, the East Texas Symphonic Band puts on a concert at Teague Park Amphitheater. It is a very casual, crowd-pleasing event! Come early and picnic for supper, bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. The concert program promises marches, show tunes, movie medleys, and patriotic songs. We have been every year since we moved to L’view; it is a fun event to bring the kids to!

Friday, the 22nd, Beat the Heat at Pump-it-up! Let’s get together for Pop-in playtime! It will likely be pretty stinking hot by this time of the month, so let’s play inside. PIU is $6 for the first kid and $4 for siblings. Don’t forget your socks!

Tues, the 26th, 9:30. Coffee Break at Glory Bee. This is just a relaxing, casual chat time. Bring the kids and a color book and come join me. I’ll be chilling and NOT working on next month’s calendar! No need to RSVP.

Thursday, the 28th, 12:00-?. Lunch and Play at Kid Station. This is just what it sounds like. Meet up with lunch at Kid Station. Entry is $2 per kid, or meet up with Kristy for free passes!
